WORKSHOPS

The 3 day Basic Furniture Making and the 2 Day DIY woodworking workshops are for  the complete beginner or those of you who have had a go but would like to know the finer points of joining wood. There is no assumed knowledge, however it's a good pace and we cover a lot!

Come for a getaway in the beautiful Byron Shire!

3 day Traditional Basic Furniture Making Workshop

What you will learn in the

3 day Basic Furniture Making Workshop

for Beginners

You will learn how to confidently use power and hand tools including try square, chisel and mallet, tenon saw, marking gauge, hammer, cordless nail gun, jigsaw, orbital sander, sliding compound saw, triton table saw, scroll saw, dremel and drill press in a supportive environment.

By the end of the course you will have designed and built your own creation and learnt three TRADITIONAL woodworking joints - the basis of furniture making.

My aim is to teach you the fundamentals so you can become independent at home and go on make your own projects of your own design.

The project I set is made to your own design and you will produce a cutting list - vital to working out how the project fits together and vital to ordering wood. Take a look at some of the techniques you will learn and projects and created during this course.

Although it looks simple we will incorporate three traditional joints using both hand and power tools. These techniques can be used in making many other projects.

As the focus in the workshop is on learning process of building, no preparation at home is required. Although if you have a spot on your wall that you would like to hang a small shelf no more than (600mm x 500mm with timber 19mm thick x 64mm wide )  then having an idea of the length and width of that space is useful but not necessary as this will all be taken care of in the workshop.
